About the event

www.akikumar.com

Aki Kumar left his native home in Mumbai, India for the United States as a teenager with the intention of working as a software engineer. Then he discovered the sounds of the blues, and his life changed dramatically.

One of the hardest working artists on the music scene today, this San Jose-based musician has successfully blended elements of Indian music into his musical and visual presentation, making for a multi-cultural mash-up that sounds like no one else, yet never loses touch with the inspiration it draws from the blues. He has made multiple appearances at The Hardly Strictly Bluegrass festival, has been featured on CBS KPIX and PRI “The World,” and has toured in India, Australia, Scandinavia and South America.

Kumar's Little Village Foundation releases 'Aki Goes To Bollywood' (2016) and 'Hindi Man Blues' (2018) are considered ground-breaking albums that have garnered international critical acclaim. In 2020, Kumar made major news with the world-wide launch of his album Dilruba on Sony Music India. Kumar kicked off 2021 with the release of an uplifting reggae-infused single "Zindagi" (Life).

Hailed as a star among the next generation of West Coast blues artists and versatile in many different styles of roots music, Kumar is equally at ease rocking a Jimmy Reed number in English as he is belting out a signature, swingin' re-interpretation of a Bollywood classic in Hindi. Cleverly crafted originals featuring his masterful blues harmonica riffs are a highlight of this charismatic entertainer's high-energy live performances. More info at akikumar.com

Tickets start at $20 for this event, *but if you're able, please consider adding a few bucks to your ticket purchase. This helps us to feed and pay the band better, and helps us keep going. Thank you for your support of what we do!

Weather permitting, this will be a creekside dance party! Plenty of dance space and seating. Please carpool! Maybe meet your group at a nearby shopping center parking lot, then park one car nearby. It helps ease Pub's impact on our neighbors.

**For this very busy event, PLEASE leave dogs at home.

About Wild Eye Pub's events:

This is a ticketed event. You can make reservations while buying your tickets. Please only reserve seats for the number of tickets you're buying.

Our limited event seating often fills before the day of the show, so plan ahead!

Wild Eye Pub is a family-friendly event venue, with a restaurant and bar. The Pub offers freshly crafted food from local & organic sources, and a full bar with regional brews, wines & spirits, with nightly entertainment in a comfy 'supper club' style with an easy vibe.

Depending on weather, this event will be on our creekside stage. We serve "supper club" style: Table service of food and drinks is (quietly) offered throughout the event. For this event, seating and service will begin 1 hour before the show.

We charge sliding scale tickets or cover fees for most shows, because we don't "turn over tables" to serve more diners, so attendees keep their tables for the whole evening. The cover fee helps us pay and feed the nightly performers. Thank you for supporting live performing artists!

PARKING: Pub has free parking. There is more free public parking nearby, at the corner of Mill & McCourtney, a 2-minute walk. And across from Pub's front door, French Ave has parking up and down the street on a gentle hill.

Questions? 530-446-6668 or info@wildeyepub.com. We're open Thurs - Mon, 1pm - 9:30 or so. You can leave a message by phone or email, 24/7.
