Special Screening of “Flowers Beyond the Dark” and NC Friends of Ukraine Benefit
Join us for a special screening and fundraiser of award-winning feature documentary “Flowers Beyond the Dark”. Directed by Ukraine-based Iryna Pravylo and produced by Tahoe-based Yulia Zimmermann, with the expressive visual language of cinematographer Oleksandr Meshcheriakov, the film chronicles the first months of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and reflects the collective memory of people in the Kyiv region during the occupation and after its liberation in spring 2022. The winner of The Best International Feature Documentary at the Carmel Film Festival, the film portrays the human side of war and the extraordinary resilience of the Ukrainian people.
The screening also benefits the local Ukraine-focused organization NC Friends of Ukraine, who provide donations to GoGlobal, a Ukrainian nonprofit helping youth harmed by the Russian invasion. After the screening there will be a Q&A session with the film’s…
