Gig for Gaza at Wild Eye

The Gig for Gaza is a benefit concert for two aid organizations working in Gaza. Though an immediate ceasefire is needed to end this humanitarian crisis, we hope to gather in community, and send what aid we can from Nevada County to the people of Gaza.

About the event

We hope to support the relief efforts of these organizations: The Culture and Free Thought Association is a woman-led NGO providing health workshops, entertainment, and educational opportunities in the camps in Rafah. Giving 4 Gaza is a mutual aid that purchases and distributes food locally in Rafah, and is currently building a solar-powered well to provide clean water to the camps.

Performances donated by local musicians will be paired with a silent auction and raffle. All ticket proceeds will go to the fundraiser, and there will be ample opportunity to bid and donate during the event.

Wild Eye Pub is honored to host this special benefit event.

Event Details:

  • Doors - 5:30pm
  • Music - 6:30pm
  • Ticket prices - $0-30 sliding scale (with ample opportunities to donate and bid during the event)

Musicians:

Beaucoup Chapeaux loves Paris.  And Skopje, and Athens, and Rome, Bucharest, Dublin, and many other cities and towns of the world. Together fifteen years and over 800 performances, the award winning acoustic quartet (Best Live Music in Nevada City, CA) is well known for their extraordinary and eclectic repertoire and performances, as well as the sense of community they create with their audiences in each of their performances.

Big for Nothing is a musical collaboration of Chris French (lyrics, vocals, guitar), Tyler Cook (bass, guitar, keyboards), Chad La Berge (drums, percussion) and Brandon Dellis (saxophone). Taking the folk-y, introspective compositions of lead songwriter French as a point of departure, BfN charts a course for the blank areas of the sonic-emotional map, staring long into the musical abyss in the hopes that something friendly stares back.

Iona Swift grew up in Nevada County singing along to folk and soul legends like Joni Mitchell, Nina Simone, Lucinda Williams, and Bob Dylan. Her vocal and songwriting style weaves these influential elements, creating an emotive and timeless sound that has been compared to the likes of Ani deFranco and Nora Jones.

Em&Del

Having played music together for over a decade, this duo draws from Scottish, Irish, Americana, and folk traditions to create a dynamic set of tunes, songs, and stories. Both based in Nevada County, Emilie Rose (fiddle) and Delphine Griffith (harp) can be found calling Square dances and Ceilidhs, rippin’ tunes in the local bars, and spending time at the river together.

About Wild Eye Pub:

We're a family-friendly event venue, with a restaurant and bar. We make farm-to-table foods from local & organic sources, and a full bar with regional brews, wines & spirits, with nightly entertainment in a comfy 'supper club' style with an easy vibe.

This event is out back on our shady, creekside stage. Seating and food/drink service starts 1 hour ahead. We serve "supper club" style, with table service of food and drinks offered during the event. The creek breeze cools off in the evening: layers are suggested, and we have fresh blankets to share.

PARKING: The pub has free parking. More nearby parking is at the corner of Mill & McCourtney, a 2-minute walk. Across from Pub's front door, French Ave has parking. Carpooling is encouraged - our neighbors appreciate it!
