About the event

Rachael and Luke Price first met as Berklee College of Music students on the very first day of school. Rachael’s artistic perspective encompasses soul, gospel, and Americana. Luke is an accomplished fiddler steeped in old-time music, bluegrass, swing, and honky-tonk. From these varied backgrounds, the twosome nurtured a soul-pop aesthetic.

“We want to connect with people, but we also like to keep things musically interesting. For example, there may be a section in 7, or a strange horn line or a complex drum fill or passage, but we never like these touches to take away from the song” Luke says. “We strive for something that feels familiar but has unexpected twists.”

Love, DEAN is part of a creative community of musicians who drift in and out of each other’s projects and also come together to teach at music camps. “Our music comes from our experience and from the influence of our musical community which stretches across the country, from Boston, New York, Nashville, Los Angeles, and Portland,” Rachael says.

"We feel so very fortunate to play music together as a married couple," says Rachael. "Some days it feels very surreal to be able to create and make music, the thing we both love to do, with the person we love so deeply. One advantage is the rich life and level of knowing each other that it creates. We get to weave in all of these other amazing components of our lives together like teaching music camps, having a common community, attending live shows, and hosting other musicians and bands in our house. All of these things would be harder or maybe even create space between us if we didn’t both do the same thing—instead they bring us closer to each other."

For their debut performance in Nevada County, Rachael and Luke welcome local multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Beau Askew. Beau is well-known as a multi-genre drummer, performing and touring with several bands, as well as a busy drum teacher. He recently recorded his first album, playing his own originals on guitar & vocals. Beau loves collaborating with others on his and their music, across genres and instruments. Beau says: "The point of music is to bring joy to those listening & creating." Beau will be accompanied by good friend and guitarist Liam Hoddy.

About the venue:

Wild Eye Pub is an all-ages event venue, with a restaurant and bar: freshly crafted local & organic food, full bar with regional brews and craft spirits, and nightly events in a comfy 'supper club' style with an easy vibe.

Reservations are recommended! You can make yours while purchasing your tickets, for seats only, or to dine as well. Our limited seating often fills before the day of the show.  This event is presented on our large dining room stage. Seating/service will start 1.5 hours ahead, and is "supper club" style: Table service of food/drinks is (quietly) offered before & during the show.

We don't "turn over tables" 2-3 times each night like other restaurants; you can keep your table for the whole show.  So, the sliding-scale cover fee for our shows helps us pay our nightly performers. Thank you for supporting live artists!

Pub has free parking. More parking is at Mill & McCourtney, a 2-min walk. Across from the Pub, French Ave has parking on a gentle hill.  Questions? 530-446-6668 or
