About the event

"One evening with Ultrafaux & Hot Club of Baltimore demonstrates why jazz has been so irresistible to listeners all over the world."

--KEN AVIS, BALTIMORE JAZZ ALLIANCE

Ultrafaux Ensemble crosses the boundaries between style and genre, performing original music inspired by Gypsy swing, be-bop, Balkan music, Bluegrass,  swing, funk, blues, choro, and musette. The group has thrilled audiences at top music festivals and concert halls all over the world both as a trio and as a larger ensemble featuring top guest musicians from the jazz, bluegrass, folk, classical, and world music scenes.

Ultrafaux has been featured at Festival Django Reinhardt in France, Django By The Sea, Django-A-Gogo, Napa Valley Jazz Society, The Kennedy Center, Midwest Gypsy Swingfest, Charm City Django Jazz Fest, Django Birthday Festival, Charm City Bluegrass Festival, The Djangoary Soiree, IMT Folk Series, Preston Jazz and Improvisation Festival, International Folk Alliance 2020, and Valhalla Boathouse Theater to name a few.

The core ensemble for this special evening includes:

Michael Joseph Harris - lead guitar;

Ross Howe - rhythm guitar;

Dexter Williams - upright bass

Additionally, they'll feature world class violinist Evan Price, from Hot Club of San Francisco.

This crew will perform inspired arrangements of the Django Reinhardt repertoire, French waltzes, and Trad Jazz. The ensemble boasts a variety of configurations including an instrumental trio of two guitars and upright bass, a classic quintet with violin, a late 40's instrumentation adding piano, drums, and horns, and a Django Big Band, which emulates the sound of the early 50's when Reinhardt performed with Duke Ellington.
